I don't know 'bout you, guys, but I have this GIF animated ;)
So it's must be your problem, not Chrome's.

Question to Mukizu or anyone with the answer >> In the pix above: http://s45.radikal.ru/i107/0907/8e/15b8d3160b9e.jpg

How did you separate your bookmark bar from the url browser bar? Looks very cool...

Linux version on the dev-channel download page is still 3.0.190.2. How do we get 191.3 without automatic updates?

6:11 PM, July 06, 2009
Blogger krtulmay said...

@SHAWN, in Wrench menu, do *not* select "Always show the bookmarks bar" (or just Ctrl+B) and the Bookmarks Bar will be detached in the new tab page.

It's faaaaaaaaaaaast!

krtulmay >> I get it now. Question is how can I have the detached bookmark bar in a normal browser window and not just on the tab page?? I looks great detached from the url bar.

If it can't be done now, maybe in a future release.

6:42 PM, July 06, 2009
Blogger krtulmay said...

SHAWN, the Bookmarks Bar only gets detached like that on the new tab page.

I like the idea behind the new tab page, but I really prefer the layout of the original. Everything seems to spaced out now and some of the original functionality is gone.

There isn't currently any support for animated PNG's. As far as I know, Opera and FF do support it.

I'm sorry to have to ask this, but is there a simple way to enter the command line switch? I have no idea how to do it and I'd really like to see the new "New tab" page. Thanks :)

4:04 AM, July 07, 2009
Blogger Archie said...

Delboy769... [assuming you're using windows] If you right click on the shortcut for chrome, then in the box where it says target put --new-new-tab-page outside the quotes.
Other useful ones are --enable-extensions and --auto-spell-correct

@Archie (or others)...I'm at work and can't try it now...but is it possible to have all 3 command lines (ie. one after the other) to enable multiple extensions?

To be honest, I didn't get the Pin(or Unpin) thing, what does it do? And, I don't know, we could do better than this on the New Tab Page, maybe? I could previously directly search for Youtube videos from the previous New Tab Page, I'll miss that feature.

9:31 AM, July 07, 2009
Blogger Archie said...

@joegrind Yes you can, you just need to leave a space in-between them.

11:10 AM, July 07, 2009
Blogger Archie said...

@Mehdi, I think it stops it from being replaced by a page you visit more often than the one that you've pinned.

Archie.. Thank you...

nice look... how can i make my page look like this..

ps: why is all this so difficult to handle?

1:57 PM, July 07, 2009
Blogger Archie said...

No worries - look at what I said to Delboy769, that should explain it all.

Not sure why it is "so difficult" probably because this is a developer channel and they don't want to waste time coded the GUI for features that don't make it to the final build.

Great new tab view. I request a feature like present in Avant Browser, that synchronize bookmarks, logins and Chrome configurations in a Google Account.
This make possible to use portable Chrome in any computer with all your preferences, including bookmarks, logins, search shortcuts, DNS fetches and others, only needing login in your Google Account.

I love the new new tab page, especially that you can easy rearrange the thumbnails. What will be good too if you have option to increase the number of thumbnails shown and also if there is "add to new tab page" option in the history.
