It also changed something on the gmail inbox.

With the new version of Chrome, the e-mail entry lines in your Gmail inbox are now too "thick." The boxes for each entry are much taller than they used to be, resulting in too much space between e-mail subjects.

This is not a change to Gmail as the interface appears normal in Firefox and IE - this is a problem with the new Chrome Dev release.

Oh look an update.

Chrome still completely butchers youtube though.

On a couple pc's here, after installing the update, chrome doesn't want to open any more.
Click the icon, a window opens, freezes straight away, and gives a non-responding window.
Anyone else with this problem?

After updating to this version, Chrome crashes on my launch. Uninstalled and reinstalled a few times, however could never get it to launch without crashing. I have had to uninstall and install a beta version.

Thanks Dave for your advice.

Just to clarify, if Google Chrome is crashing when you launch it, go to C:\Users\USERNAME\appdata\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default and delete the two files (not folders) "Web Data" and "Web Data-journal".

8:29 AM, March 01, 2011
Blogger Martin said...

Warning: The above step will delete saved bookmarks, etc; if you try to update them by syncing, then it will re-instate the crash-on-startup error.

Crashes on update for windows 7 64bit ultimate as per posts above, crashes on open. Works fine when downgrade to earlier version. Also works fine on win 7 professional.

Interestingly I can only view this blog now using the IE extension for chrome and not directly in chrome! Keeps telling me to login or enable javascript/cookies in my browser when using chrome. My login id is displayed top left when it tells me this :P

Again, why is WebGL disabled for XP?

It was working fine. We need it.

1:34 AM, March 03, 2011
Blogger krtulmay said...

GPU and WebGL have currently been disabled on XP because GPU crashes are much more frequent and catastrophic (sometimes causing system hangs) on XP.

It is blacklisted on XP for now for all GPU features and vendors. Will be revisited once there is better overall stability.

So lemme get this straight. Dev is well known to be the most unstable version. Yet on the worlds most widely used os, it is MISSING FEATURES that are in stable? How does that work? Give us our latest technology, and we'll live with the crashes.
