Google Chrome 1.1 (was: 0.5) can't be too far now I guess. Hopefully extension support and the Linux client are one of the next features :) Great work so far, Google!

Great work chaps. I find myself using Chromium more and more each day, both at work and at home.

One of the sites I visit each morning after logging into my office PC is , however this does not render correctly using Chromium. Strangely however, the site does appear to work correctly with my home laptop.

Could a Japanese Windows XP installation on the office computer be responsible?

Many thanks, keep up the great work!

Great, now please fix the new tab page, and allow us to use our homepage. This is one huge reason I am hesitant to use Chrome.

Nice! I love it. I have one small issue, I don't like how the "Other bookmarks" popup menu disappears every time you click any longer than a millisecond.

Really nice browser! High quality design, superfast. I use it often but can't abandon Firefox until you guys get Google Bookmarks working with Chrome.

Can someone tell me why Gears does not work at all in the current stable release (154.36)? Its pretty ironic that google's gears do no not work in google's browser.

I think google can save more space in chrome by merging address bar and Tab Names so that when we click it becomes address bar and when we want to move tabs then we can Right click.

I'm new at using a computer after retiring. What does Google Chrome or for that matter what benefit is this program?
I use the computer to search for things and use the e-mail a lot, but beyond that I know very little about computers but would like to learn.

Three serious problems newly and continuing to be identified with Chrome:

1. Booking tickets on the UK's First Great Western train site using Chrome generates incorrect information on what tickets are available - none of the cheaper advance ones. Logging on and booking with Firefox shows the full range of tickets. Chrome either shows only undiscounted, or fails to show the page at all. Please check this out - at

2. Subscribing to RSS feeds using Atom, embedded in Blogger (which is after all a Google product), generates a page of unusable code. Curious. Works fine in Firefox and IE8. This is true of my own and other blogs.

3. And, Hotmail still doesn't work in Chrome, despite supposed bug fixes in latest Dev release.

Chrome is good. Potentially very good. But to put it mildly, I am looking forward to a version that works across the piece.

You are right
I have problem accessing where when shopping the sizes keep on going horizontal instead of organizing properly.

And also some intranet HP websites i am not able to access with Chrome. So during those times i just use IE or FF.

But for my personal browsing i really love chrome.

Guys if your'e still having probs with hotmail, then try this as the user agent string, its the user agent string from apple safari for windows, dev preview 4.0(528.1.1) as surely if chrome uses or has portions of webkit nightly then this will work for you as long as you have the latest DEV RELEASE! i ammended the user agent string recommended and added this instead :--user-agent="Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US) AppleWebKit/528.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Safari/528.1.1"

as long as you press space once after the chrome.exe part and apply in the target field, it will work.
I can confirm that i am able to switch folders and compose/reply e mails fine using this ammended user agent string!!

I am using dev build of Google chrome and this user agent string seems to work perfect,
i have the dev preview of safari and noticed that hotmail works with no problems and no adjustments (ie user agent string), so i thought i would try it and low and behold it works LOL

Thanks for that reminder, Simon, but while that workaround is fine for Hotmail, it then interferes with Java, which sets off a whole new set of problems (e.g. using LogMeIn for remote control of another machine...) I'm inclined just to wait till the guys at Google sort this one conclusively, and keep using Firefox in the meantime for anything other than dead straight browsing - on which I agree with San that Chrome is a joy.

Chrome's cool.

Except I can't get hotmail to function at all, regardless of the workarounds. It's missing a few things, but I can live without those. Hotmail, now, I can't - it's the address I use for all things not personal.

2. Forward your Hotmail to Gmail :).

12:58 PM, January 07, 2009
Blogger Pamela and Steve said...

I already know how to do that. I don't want to do that. I use Gmail for important stuff. I use Hotmail for everything else I don't want in my Gmail. So I need Chrome to function with Hotmail.

And I gave up IE years ago. Probably before you were born.

Wow! you must be 100 :) Just kiddin
Please don't mind didn't mean to offend or anything.

I use gmail for everything and i have my other email addresses forwarded to my gmail account.

Then i use filters based on where that email is coming from and i apply a filter like HOTMAIL. and gmail has a very nice spam filter too.

So it will filter your hotmail spam also.

And you just click HOTMAIL label to view your hotmail emails.

Right now i am converging all my email to my main gmail account. And even i add them as account too.

So that i can send email from those accounts without even loggin in to them.

Is it possible to move all my Hotmail's mails, to my Gmail? (keeping the original date)

Btw, i can login in Hotmail with Chrome with any problems.
Anyway, it would be nice to have some new features like other browsers.

Blogger San said...

Can you access hotmail via Microsoft outlook express?

If yes then login via outlook express, and also open Gmail in outlook.

Then you can just copy paste emails.

All useful suggestions, but if Chrome is to establish itself up there with Firefox and IE, it really does need to work with everything. I guess like most of you, I already have quite enough email accounts already, thanks, and that has been the point of Hotmail, consolidating my other email addresses into one spot (partly because Hotmail doesn't allow forwarding from one's prime email address). Other big Google releases have largely worked from the outset (Maps, Earth, Picasa...) and Chrome for me, so far, is quite a disappointment in technical/reliability terms. So, I'm still waiting for the Hotmail (and Java) fixes, and using Firefox for the bits that don't work in Chrome.
