Dev update: Larger fonts

Google Chrome 3.0.182.3 has been released to the Dev channel.

The people have spoken. The small font issue affecting most non-English languages has been fixed (issue 12309).

I don't remember seeing anything in the release notes but has the algorithm for the New Tab Page changed? I seem to notice a change in the promotion of pages on the New Tab Page. Pages are promoted a lot faster than before, which is great. Am I imagining this or has there been a change?

I still can not access Yahoo! Mail :(
Though I use gmail for my primary email but I use Yahoo!Messenger to chat with my friends, so sometimes I have to receive email in Yahoo!Mail too.

Would you fix this soon?^^

The people often have silly opinions but let's admit that when it comes to Google Chrome and I am one of the people, it was a damn good idea. ;-)

My 182.3 has a very bizarre bug. The bare txt files such as these temperature anomalies are shown as an empty media player of some kind that doesn't play.

View source shows you what's actually inside.

@Lumo: It's not just your 182.3. See http://bugs.chromium.org/12777... the "media controls where plain text should be" bug is driving me crazy, too.

Hi.
Is it just me or can you no longer view css & js files in chrome.

I loved being able to view source and click the links to view the files directly in the browser.

Now it prompts me for a download :\

Dear Mark (Larson), when even you are too small a landlord to fix it quickly, it's a good idea to leave the problems to the heavens.

Reading the (duplicate or multiplicate) Chromium bugs pages made it clear that the video player is shown even for SVG and SWF files (!), it started with the 3.0 versions, and it almost certainly started because of the [video] tag.

Well, there's no [video] in the TXT, SVG, SWF files, is there? I guess that it must be easy to figure out that it's no video. ;-)

The advantage of having a damaged browsing of SWF, TXT, SVG etc. files is that I can now view a useless page of Jacques Distler with the video tag that so far only worked in Firefox 3.5 beta (and that could be written in many other ways). Neat. :-)

Great job with the updates, Google!
However, in this version, when I type in a search query in the address bar (e.g. games) and press "Enter" for the browser to automatically search my entry using my default search engine, the address bar has 2 "http", resulting in me unable to search using the address bar. Is it just me, or is it a bug?

When browsing Facebook using Chrome, clicking the Back button takes me to the previous site. For example:

I go to my profile in Facebook, then click on a friends name, then her photos. If I click back it takes me back to a website I was looking at before I browsed to Facebook.

This stuff is very annoying. Do you actually test things before releasing them?

Acid3 shows now 94/100 and linktest still failing.

Also, it looks like the video tag causes trouble with a lot of file types. When downloading am exe, zip, rar or trying to open an svg, chrome shows an empty video player.

From what I can see, starting in version 3.0.182.2, there is something wrong with the browser's javascript XML processing. The XML parser in GWT doesn't work anymore and some ajax features in java frameworks like Wicket (which require client-side XML processing) keep failing. Maybe it has something to do with the new V8 version included in 3.0.182.2.
This might also be the cause behind problems with yahoo mail as it's being reported by several users.

Having 2 types of crashes:
1. When I try to use any kind of "back" funktion to go back to a previous page with a certain sorted-function (for example I sort view of a list to show a certain order, click on something in the list that takes me somewhere else, when I try to get back to the list, I get error message saying something about lost of data, leaving me to square one later and I have to redo the whole sorting list process).

Issue 2: At time to time, a bit too often, while browsing places where I need to fill forms och click on suchs, Chrome tends to freeze and I cant click anywhere in the page, or at least I cant click on any link from that specifik page, not untill I re-enter the page after cleansed cookies..
..in most cases I just choose another browser and it goes faster and I dont need to junk cookies unecesserelly.

So even if most stuff works, bad when that (above) doesnt work...
:(

Seems to be an issue with gCal in 3.0.182.3 clicking to view the details of an event just gives the "loading" in the top right and blank screen. Also tabbing between drop down boxes I have a snap in error occurring? Anyone else seeing these?

The Dev version 3.0.183.0 can be downloaded now. However, it doesn't quite seem to fix the "open other file types as a video player" bug.

9:14 PM, June 03, 2009
Blogger Lumo said...

Sorry, I take it back: I shouldn't have believed a comment in the Chromium bug discussions.

The 183.0 version actually does fix the "open as video player" bug, at least for TXT, SWF, and SVG files.
