Same problem as robotwink. I even uninstalled Chrome and tried to install it from scratch, but that didn't work either. So I did a system restore back to (Vista). There is definitely something wrong with this update or the servers are overloaded.

Hi, the installer is bad, please rebuild it Google Chrome team?

This file is identified as a DOS executable by Windows (no icon, properties dialog shows DOS pages), and it tries to run the DOS stub (which says you can't run it in DOS mode, of course).

Even weirder is initially when downloading the file it had messed up NTFS permissions which I had to fix before I could even try to run it. Weird.

The md5sum for this "bad" installer is 8f5915f4811ca509685634600c3f219d and the sha1sum is 29f2ce2c0fb8c04cac3e025adda7309c764a025f

Please fix this, thanks. :)

I am unable to extract the files manually with 7zip as I can with the other past installers.

Its great that the Windows version of Chrome is progressing nicely, but as a Linux user I don't have any use for this information. I'd like to see each OS have a small update with each post, to keep things fair and to keep all the camps informed. Its been about 8 days since the Linux or Mac folks got word of the progress of Chromium's status on their platforms.

Uh guys, where on earth has the bottom of the New Tabs page gone?

If Google Chrome's all about screen real estate then why am I looking at white space for 40% of the screen?

James: I think they're goign to add more bars there, for example if you enable bookmark sync in the dev build there is a bar for that.

radu: The large file is the actual installer, it's basically a self-extracting 7-zip archive. It probably extracts directly to the Google Chrome app folder. If you want to get the files out of it some archive managers will be able to open it (7-zip can). Extract Chrome.7z from the EXE and then extract all the files from the 7Z.

With 7-zip 9.xx you need to actually extract three times... 7-zip now allows you to extract EXE resources from some EXEs even when they have packed files.
