Unfortunately, the bug with the Windows 7 taskbar is still there.

For those of you who don't know about this: If Chrome is pinned to the Taskbar and you launch it from there, another icon appears in the taskbar, being the active one.

New issues (I'll post these in the issues database):

1. Try scrolling up when you're at the top of a page.
2. Google Alerter will no longer install (not sure if this applies to other extensions, as well).

3:16 PM, January 06, 2010
Blogger NDA said...

It isn't mentioned in the release notes but on the Mac version there's also the Task Manager.

Afaik this is a new thing for Chrome and the feature was only available in Chromium starting with version 4.0.268.0 (34180).

If this is a Dev channel update, why does Wrench menu > About Google Chrome and about:version say "4.0.288.1 (Official Build 35555) stable" ?

Shouldn't they say "dev" instead?

FIX: Windows 7 Taskbar

--> Unpin from Taskbar
--> Repin to Taskbar

= problem solved!

1:54 AM, January 07, 2010
Blogger MRIS said...

I can confirm that Mikey's tip (above) solves the problem for Windows 7 Taskbar.

If you can't get it to work try this:
1. unpin chrome from the taskbar.
2. exit chrome.
3. launch chrome
4. on the taskbar for the newly launched chrome, right-click and say pin to taskbar

3:48 AM, January 07, 2010
Blogger Nolan said...

Unpinning and re-pinning to the taskbar fixes the double icon issue, but the new taskbar shortcut no longer supports jumplists.

Hey! They finally allowed font settings to be set on the Mac -- I am surprised this wasn't specifically touched on in announcing this release. It's one of the key things that has kept me from using Chrome more on that platform...

Thank you, thank you, thank you, dev team!

This version is funky with TextExpander on Mac… I had the problem with a previous dev version and then it dissapeared.
It's back. Hard to explain : the texts snippets are not inserted where the cursor is…

If you haven't discovered it yet, try to right-click at any extensions icon in the taskbar, in this new version. You will be nicely surprised! ;-)

My experience with this build (on Windows 7) is that memory consumption shoots through the roof. Could be just me, it's just something I noticed. As others have already mentioned, the taskbar button is not really working as it should.

Thanks for all the other work though, I really like Chrome.

but if i type 123abc and then ctrl+enter, it will direct to google search page and search 123abc instead of www.123abc.com

is there any reasons for such difference??

thanks.
