REO: it's obviously version 5 because the official version 4 stable has been released a few days ago, so new features are always starting the new stable version 5 that will be released in the future.
That doesn't mean that the changes are (or can be) abrupt. But there's always only one major stable version with each first number being worked upon and 4 is already out. All others, later stable versions are just security/urgent improvements of it.
I really hate how the forms now don't autoselect and insert the best match now and you have to select it. Please put it back! I hope its a content development issue
Many Thanks for the Contents Settings window. However I have lost all my extensions settings because no distinction is being made between web sites cookies and local settings of extensions. The option to clear cookies when leaving the browser is welcome but this should not be combined with clearing local site data such as extensions data.
Also please refine the javascript settings. For privacy, security and browser performance we want 3 options: block all javascript, allow all (these options are present) but also allow only javascript of the domain&top-level domain and not 3rd party javascript (just like the noscript extension of Firefox is capable of doing)
Sorry for the comment spam, but now after switching to Beta channel for Mac with that build, and then back again and reinstalling this dev build, my ChromeMilk now work again. *shrug*
Earlier it was like clicking on the extensions' toolbar icons didn't do anything. Oh well. :)
Seems that after updating, the theme is changed to something other than the default. Everything is fixed if you just go to the options and restore the default, but the theme shouldn't be changing upon update.
Using peacekeeper online benchmark, Chrome Version 4 performs better in the rendering part. Other than that, version 5 is better, strictly speaking from the benchmark point of view.
Additionally to my previous feedback above, on this dev Chrome-version, about Javascript: it would even be better if the user has also the option to execute per website those javascripts he wants (i.e. select them from a list associated with the web site) and block those he wants with as default the domain scripts (just as noscript of Firefox). This is important for privacy, security and performance ....
On the theme-issue with this version: I could easily solve it by just reinstalling my theme (no point at all).
My vista box has the double wrenches and my Win7 box does not. Also noticed that next to the version number on the Vista box is has "unknown" and on my Win7 box shows "dev"
Aviramof: These dev builds are incremental. Version 5 is starting to be worked on now, since version 4 was released to the stable channel. I'm sure the stable version 5 later this year will warrant the version number. ;)
I like the new features though when I hide extensions, the drop down menu does not work for me. It would also be interesting if we could reorder extensions.
I also like the fact that we can now close a pin tab but it remains there disabled.
It would be great if some of the basic features that were missing in the initial release would finally be added. For example, we're now pushing into v5 and still no print preview. Lack of a print preview is really surprising after 4 full releases. Bookmarks are still rudimentary, and support for bookmark tagging as featured in Firefox since 2.0 would be fantastic.
On the upside, the content settings is really promising. This (as it matures) along with a few site-level adjustment buttons on the interface (perhaps via an extension) could fill in some of the NoScript and CSLite functionality that's currently unavailable.
I'm a user of webtrends (ondemand.webtrends.com) and the latest dev build no longer allows me to login. Looks like during a redirection on their page the browser just does nothing. Works fine in IE.
I appreciate the idea of hiding the extension buttons, but the slider disrupts the sleek interface. Put my vote towards rearranging as well. I agree that the bookmarks manager is a bit lacking, RSS should have native support, and there should be better script level management. Download management also needs to be improved.
I found the google chrome support page, but its very hard to navigate, I can't even search for a particular issue before posting one myself.
Also, the extensions page has been broken for quite some time, the list of 'popular extensions' has been completely random. Will this be fixed any time soon?
Uninstall of Chrome still breaks hyperlinks in other programs (such as Outlook/Windows Live Mail etc.) for Internet Explorer. (Application not found)That's why a lot of people don't install Chrome anymore.
Yeah, why did you remove the --pinned-tab-count option? Is there another way to launch Chrome with tabs already pinned? Can you add it as an option on the right-click popup for each tab?

What change takes this to version 5?
@REO: r37004
The pin tab option is missing from mine, 5.0.309.0 (37488) Ubuntu running Karmic.
Pin tab please come back!!
Dev releases are now at version 5 because Chrome 4 has been released.
Anyone else seeing two wrench menus?
What on earth have you done to the original chrome theme????
It looks like a darkroom accident now!
Love the extension slide bar. Very nice.
quick questions
when i press Ctrl+N to create a new windows and then trying to maximize the windows, it doesn't really maximize like normally does...
anybody have the same issue?
It lost my original theme and is showing a weird black/dark theme now until I changed it back...
New content settings are missing a cache size option.
And still no option to change the installation path of Chrome.
I guess version 5 should have those standard options.
(Windows 7)

Why have the memory/high CPU usage problems not been addressed? Am i the only one with outrageous amounts of memory being used with 5 tabs open?
Windows 7
Dev 5.0.307.1
Content Settings doesn't work( Win 7). When I select option they don't apply. And arrow in the extensions sidebar doesn't work

TwitterBar has broke with this release for me on Mac. :-( Looking for another simple Twitter extension now.. :S
Ugh, noo... :( ChromeMilk also broke. Did this build cause a regression with toolbar-based extensions on Mac?

hmm no probs here.. all seems good, in fact version 5 seems somewhat faster..
noticed a speed increase in launch time and page loading and browsing speed
there is one null cokies on top of cookies viewer

i hope that the download folder will change in new beta too!
The link in this line doesn't show you any changes. I think it's because the null source changeset.
>>"More details about additional changes are available in the svn log of all revision."
None of the content settings are saving for me. Anyone else running into this?
chrome_installer.exe shows up "File version: 4.0.249.70" :D
+1 on two wrench menus...
My vista box has the double wrenches and my Win7 box does not. Also noticed that next to the version number on the Vista box is has "unknown" and on my Win7 box shows "dev"
To solve the double wrench issue, I reverted to original (default) chrome theme, and then installed the one I had previously again...
For the extension slide bar, the arrows don't show my other extensions though, so I can't make it smaller. Anyone else have this issue?
When does the search bar at foxnews.com (top of the page) will be fix? It superpose on top of the Search button.
I tried writing a simple letter such as "E" and a pop saying "101" and "99" comes out =/
My gmail checker extension works again...
i don't think you should call it version five two changes for windows doesn't qualified it for this status think of this.
Still show the Deezer bug : unable to play any sound !
Ahhh!! Where did pin tab go? I hope that wasn't an intentional removal.
@Zach: What do you mean the pin tab is gone? I still have it.

Thank you for content settings!! :) First steps to no-script on chrome?
I really well come to you .Because you give me a good site to post comment now...

some https sites are not working. Where as Gmail works, my banking sites are not working. IE8 displays them correctly. Is there known issue with this?
I agree, the extensions should be rearrangeable.

dont say lie... what is new for v5? crash fixes. hahaha...

I'm using Win7. Since Chrome updated to this version, I cannot close pinned tabs (have to unpin to close).
hmm noticed that when you open more tabs it does not show the tabbed pages via the windows task bar/jumplist.
Only shows the current page in displayed.
Extensions (including Google Voice, for example) are adding HTML to saved pages. Really bad.
Saved pages have their HTML tags all capitalized. Really bad.
As of version 5.0.307.1 dev, Extensions website renders error 500. It renders fine with Firefox.
I can't believe they *still* don't have NTLM or proxy authentication. It is getting a little ridiculous.
I like Chrome a lot other than the gaps in features.
Gmail file attach don't working on this build.
Hi! This post is likable and your blog is very interesting, congratulations!
add your
My Internet Radostations has stopped working after the update. Still working in IE8. Example: http://www.rixfm.com/webbradio/frameset.php
I'm lovin' it.......

It seems as though we will be getting drag-and-drop extension icon reordering in the next dev update. Please say it's true!
Also, I hope that the chevron (dropdown) menu for hidden extension icons works in the next update.
D:
The pin option is gone! Please bring this feature back, I loved that!
Pin tab is missing
and like extension bar slider
wants pin tab option baaack ^__^
Please, back pin tab feature =(
