Beta Channel Update for Chrome OS

The Beta channel has been updated to 35.0.1916.27 (Platform version: 5712.14.0) for all Chrome OS devices. This build contains a number of bug fixes, security updates and feature enhancements. Systems will be receiving updates over the next several days.

Some highlights of these changes are:
  • The Chrome OS Launcher now supports folders - you can finally sort all your apps exactly the way you want all with beautiful animations and Chrome fast
  • We updated the window controls based on the feedback of our users - the minimize button is back and the left/right tiling of windows can be done via long-press on the maximize button
  • The launcher voice search support is back and hotwording works via “Ok Google”
  • We’ve implemented captive portal detection during a signed-in session, which will help you get online in cafes, hotels, airports, and other locations which provide internet connectivity via a captive portal.
If you find new issues, please let us know by visiting our forum or filing a bug. Interested in switching channels? Find out how. You can submit feedback using ‘Report an issue...’ in the Chrome menu (3 horizontal bars in the upper right corner of the browser).

I still can't get hotwording for "OK Google" work. The microphone is not showing that it is listening. This is for the google home search page and within the app launcher. Any ideas?

Never posted here but this one deverses, this is a pretty good update, pages that once were a drag to use, like facebook or google + now feel more snapier, also the folders and other tweaks are great.

The "ok google" hotword feature is not working for me either but i am in canada so if it is a region thing then i understand why it's not working. The new features are really good and performance seems good too. The seperate video player is much better then before and seemed to improve playback quality of my avi video files. The one flaw i have found tho with this update is now boot time is very slow compared to before. My samsung 303c always booted in 10 seconds or less and now since version 35 takes at least 20-30 seconds to boot. I don't know if this is a bug of sorts or if now boot time is longer because of new features, etc. I wanted to point that out and keep up the good work google it is great to see my chromebook keep getting better all the time.

Please fix the slow startup. It feels like my Samsung Chromebook 3 has a mechanical hard drive!

The two guys above me are right about the Series 3 Sammy Chromebook, it feels as sluggish as it was in lauch, the previous version was much snappier. In this version I also find YouTube videos at both 720p and 1080p to lag badly and skip about half of the frames, please investigate.

I don't seem to be experiencing the sluggish problems the other ppl are and i own the samsung series 3 as well. I don't know if there would be any difference between canadian and american chromebooks but i have the canadian one. I am not trying to disagree with the others i don't seem to be experiencing the same problems with video, etc. on my samsung series 3. The startup is slow for sure for me too but once logged in i can't see any performance issues and i have been watching lots of videos etc. I personally found more glitches in the last update then this one other then the slow startup and hotword features still not working. Just adding more feedback to try and help and in now way am i trying to say the others are not experiencing the problems they are having.
