Ugh! The omnibox/awesomebar/whatever where the URL is all messed up on my PC, even on the incognito. Basically, the current address is missing, until I hit "escape". Weird, eh? I'm going to do a fresh install on a different PC and if it's still like that, I might file a bug. Hope this is a very temporary glitch!

It does the same on mine. Seems to be a new feature. Not sure what that's about but am hoping someone can shed some light. I'll post on the Chromebook community on G+ and see what people think.

Brian; it's been filed as a bug now:

https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=368725

Fortunately, there's a fix:

disable chrome://flags/#origin-chip-in-omnibox and relaunch.

Ouch! I saw the same thing this morning. Not having the url something I can select in the address bar is a SHOW STOPPER.

Of course, that's just my professional opinion as an instructor in computer programming at the post-secondary level and someone who's been working with software development for 20 years....

On the plus side, seeing the Open issue # 368725.

If nothing else, this single UI change should illustrate the importance of truly understanding the way people use the Omnibox. Computer-savvy people need to select the URL, manipulate it, use it, copy it, document it, etc. Just the simple task of copying the URL so you can make a link in a blog post is done countless times a day by countless people.

Oh wow. I was quite surprised to see such a change. This is why I left Opera (for them not allowing the ability to show full URL in the address bar). Of course I can go up and click it in Chrome, but I like to know the full URL of where I am all of the time. I don't care if this is the default setting - as long as they add an option to revert to old address bar display behavior.
