This update also changes the flags so the profiles are handled differently, not in a nice way.

Took me 30 minutes to learn about the hidden flags and how to change back.

having a nice big 'user name here' right next to my window controls(minimize,maximize/restore,close) eats up tab space I could better use for open tabs, please move that to settings or some other place where it isnt otherwise eating valuable real estate.

Multiple accounts UX on new Chrome is really bad... whoever worked on this did a really lousy job, or that person do not use that functionality at all... You can't see account icons anymore and 3 clicks instead of 2 (in previous version) to switch an account?!? Cmon...

In order to revert back to the old profile menu (avatars and all on the left), go to URL:
change "Enable new profile management system" to "disabled" and click "relaunch now" button that will appear at the bottom of screen.

I'm not a fan of that weird button that popped up with my name on it. I've figured out how to turn it off but can't find any clear explanation for why it was added in the first place. I'd recommend better communication with "low-information" users if you're going to spring a design overhaul that might be interpreted as a malware attack.

I am in agreement with the user account switching comments here. The (UI) changes only remove value: Space for tab space, and not only is it more clicks to change an account, you have to move the mouse all around to get there.

What's significantly worse is if you have many many accounts (more than 8), the window for the switcher is significantly cumbersome, has to be expanded - stops adding avatars after a certain point when expanded only horizontally - and has NO SCROLL BAR to let you know how far to go or if you are seeing all of the accounts.

It takes me a significant amount of time to switch to an account at the bottom, like "Vault Admin", when it used to take me two simple clicks.

The user account update only removes value, and functionality, and speed for the user. Updates should add value.

I would recommend revisiting the new account switching.

I have the same problem as phil. blank page, not working, no apps launch and no web pages load.

The following error after time out...

Google Chrome could not load the webpage because www.google.com took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection.
Check your Internet connection
Check any cables and reboot any routers, modems, or other network devices you may be using.
Allow Chrome to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings.
If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server...
Check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Show advanced settings... > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect "Use a proxy server for your LAN".
Error code: ERR_TIMED_OUT

1000% agree with user account switching UI comments! THANK YOU Shmulik for the Chrome:\\flags setting to turn that poorly thought-out downgrade off.

I routinely maintain 12-20 different users for web software testing and demonstrations and the account switching process went from "click, click" to "click, click, expand window, scroll around, click. When that unexpected change came today, my world was rocked in a very bad way!

Google, please don't make changes for the sake of keeping junior developers busy.

Thank you Shmulik!

For everyone that hates the new UI For Account switching, I will reiterate:

In order to revert back to the old profile menu (avatars and all on the left), go to URL:

change "Enable new profile management system" to "disabled"

Then click "relaunch now" button that will appear at the bottom of screen.

Restarted my Win10 preview, upon reboot saw the new user profile identified and went to Chome/About to check the version.

Version 39.0.2171.95 m

Updates are disabled by the administrator

Now I didn't disable the updates so can you tell my why it happened and how I can undo it. Is it a Chrome "feature" or is it Win10 acting up?

I agree with others that the UI change for Account switching is unwelcome. I would ask Google to remember "Just because you can...does not always mean you should."

If you are going to make a change, at least give the users information on how to change it back. Give users choice. I for one, do not like unexpected UI changes.

Config: i386 32-bit Ubuntu 14.10, 4G ram.

Just installed Chrome 39, set the flag as specified in the help, and photo editing in G+ will not work. Tried flipping the flag, still no good.

Why release versions that break your own software?

At last I've found out it's not me. Since Chrome updated itself 17th/18th Jan I have been having various problems.
I cannot see any images in my emails. I've switched everything off and back on (along with resets, etc) but apparently we don't get a choice anymore. If this was your intention then please can you actually "tell the world" that you are no longer allowing users to access images in gmail (via Chrome or IE) and why.
So if I want to look at an email I now have to click "look on browser" - which is slow but, much worse than that, it feels like about 50% keep being rejected by Chrome. So now it is both cumbersome to keep up with my email and half the time it simply doesn't work.
Then Google+ - what is the point of having a place to share ideas, images, etc when it no longer displays the images - I've already seen people saying "farewell" and that's only after 2 days.
And finally - bookmarks - I keep getting errors when I select bookmarks, including recent ones -which I know have worked because I test the ones that are important to me. This is much the same as when I try to go to browsers from emails. Sometimes you offer the chance to look at "your" cached version, which was saved about 1 hr before. Even when I do a new search in Google to "re-find" the site and then "click" on the provided links I still get some errors (about 25%).
You might get the feeling that I'm not impressed - you would be right. I've always admired Google and I really like Chrome, please fix the problems or if this is the new look google then please make a public/press release explaining why these changes are there so people can make an informed decision.
I've seen a few ides in this blog that I have not tried yet - so I will give them a go - thank you for the suggestions. Nicola
