Bug Report Filed: https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=527318
Still marked Unconfirmed
Chrome not exiting cleanly

This [mis]behavior started after updating Chrome from 44.0.2403.157 to version 45.0.2454.85 and has been observed on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, Debian 7.8 & 7.9, RHEL7, CentOS 7.1.1503, and Mint 13.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Start Chrome browser
2. Exit Chrome
3. Restart Browser

What is the expected behavior?
All Chrome processes end upon closing browser

Instead -
After exiting Chrome, the process "/opt/google/chrome/chrome"
plus 2 child instances of the "cat" process remain running.

Upon re-launching Chrome, a dialog opens stating:

"Your profile could not be opened correctly."
"Some features may be unavailable. Please check that the profile exists and you have permission to read and write its contents."

Since yesterday I've been facing problems with Google Chrome, Safari and Firefox with all Google services like youtube, gmail, docs, analytics, google forum. Basically, I can't look up information on the address bar giving me as a result the following: ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED

In addition, I've done several test to fix this up with no success. I'm running a Macbbok Pro (OS 10.9.5) I've been in touch with more people that are experiencing the same problem.

The only way to connect to any google service by using my mac, is connecting it to a smartphone as a internet hubspot.

Any solution will be very appreciated.

Cheers
Diego

@Krishna Would you see if you can get the priority raised on Mike T's bug report (above)? The failure to shut down issue is affecting all our 12.04 systems. Thanks...Sam

This broke a couple features for google chrome extensions. For one I can't insert an iframe into a page and then access that iframe through sender.frameElement using the sender from a message event when the iframe posts a message to window.top.

Also I can't access the page's javascript environment by injecting a script into the page.

The second issue breaks a lot of really useful functionality but I can sort of understand if it is considered a security problem. The first I cannot. It is not a cross-origin bypass if a content script running in the chrome extension context tries to access a frame created by that same content script. I think this should be considered a bug..

Excellent blog you have here but I was curious about if you knew of any community forums that cover the same topics talked about in this article? I’d really like to be a part of online community where I can get advice from other experienced individuals that share the same interest. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Appreciate it softonice | canon support | drivers and software

I agree with David Karn. It broke a lot of extensions which use iframes in content scripts.
It's definitely a bug.
