Please can anyone tell Us How to remove user menu from Chrome as avatar menu flag no longer exists. I'm a single user and that profile menu is not necessary! Please how to get rid of it!
No one wants the profile menu. Has anyone told you they liked it or found it improved usability once since you implemented it?
I've seen nothing but complaints every update that breaks our ability to turn the god damned thing off. No one needs it. No one wants it. Let us disable it.
We use a proxy server and now NTLM authentication no longer works with version 47.0.2526.73. We have not had any problems with previous versions of Chrome. I have seen reports from other people with similar problems with 47.0.2526.73:
http://www.edugeek.net/forums/internet-related-filtering-firewall/162868-smoothwall-ntlm-chrome-47-0-2526-73-a.html. Any advice anyone?
Chrome is a good browser but since version 0 first version that the browser has changed little today. The change came in the final 14 one subtle change in the icons and in the address bar that won a gray instead of blue, I am Google Chrome user since its early versions. I think that Chrome should not only have changes in your code or under the hood but should have visual changes because the visual browser is already well beaten while other browsers are always changing interface and adding new features. We hope a change in the layout of the fast chrome.
Really annoyed that we can't disable the Avatar Menu now. This is a serious UI design flaw since the button is so close to the Minimize Button I sometimes click the Avatar Menu instead.
Please at least give us the option to disable this with the previous flag that worked fine until Version 47. What harm does the flag do? Advanced users such as myself who do not want the menu can disable it.
I can't believe you all have not fixed the dang bug that affects a whole bunch of people, the bug that totally disables this browser's, address bar on windows 10, This bug https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=462058 i been on the beta builds waiting for a fix and now you pushed the current beta i see to stable but this bug is not fixed, it still affects me and others just search over at the google help forums you will see a post i swere is a mile long. You all need to fix this bug please. At random times it just stops accepting input forcing me and a whole slew of others to hit the windows key and pop open the task bar, just to go back and type in chrome. i begin to think you all don't care about it. I may just go with firefox if it is not fixed. But i like chrome better so please fix it.
After the update, Chrome refuses to open anything, a webpage, about, settings. Everything prompts for Kill Page or Wait, which neither work. Chrome just sits and spins.
This is not something I have ever needed, or wanted, and every time (there's been several more than too many) it gets enabled, I find a way to disable it. But all that has stopped working...
Really REALLY disappointed...hate to say it (and I know me as a stat doesn't make much of a difference in the grand scheme), but for my own sanity and trust of a company so many rely on, well get this is fixed asap, or I'll swear off Google in as many ways as I can!
NTLM appears to be broken in 47, users in our office that are auto upgraded to 47 can no longer authenticate. Checked at multiple reports from different companies reporting same issue. Squid and Bluecoat proxies confirmed. Migrating users to IE11 until a fix is rolled out.
i am here to beg that there be an option to turn off the profile menu as well. there is so little space where i can click to grab the chrome window and move it around... this profile menu (which i do not use because i am a single user on chrome) takes up part of the precious real estate and provides no functionality. i understand that you want to include it as a new feature, but please let those of us who don't want it turn it off. you removed the flag and now the command line doesn't work either. PLEASE please address this issue. there are literally hundreds of internet comments begging for it. listen to your users.
Chrome blocks all https sites with error 'ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED'. THey work fine in firefox/IE browser. Tried reinstalling, resetting the setting. Still doesn't work, any help on this.
Chrome was automatically upgraded to Version 47.0.2526.73 m and now the authentication required form is constantly appearing for each website outside the company network.
We are using the same firewall as mentioned at #8, McAfee WebGateway. All our users globally will be or are already affected by this sudden change.
Also want to request a return to the ability to get rid of the profile menu. As others have mentioned, it's too easy to hit when you just want to minimize the window. Single users don't need or want it!
I guess the NTLM issue others have mentioned is why the Bill Pay section of Wells Fargo online banking doesn't work - keeps asking for UN/PW over and over even after I've logged into the site itself. Upper level tech support says this has been broken on Chrome since v. 46 - known issue to them that they hope to fix on their end.
Yup...NTLM authentication issue here too. All sorts or trouble with sites outside of the firewall, and one or multiple authentication pop-ups are being displayed.
Allow us, YOUR customers, to disable the fucking profile menu or we will become FIREFOX customers. The profile menu is about as useful, welcome and necessary as losing a leg to gangrene. GET RID OF IT!
Seems like there is no more system tray icon for Notifications, this needs to be added back please! I use Tweetdeck chrome app and this is vital for me to clear all the notifications at once rather than waiting 3 at a time.
Why on earth does Google insist on forcing a stupid avatar icon on the 0.1% of Chrome users who know and want to disable it? I never use it! I am done with Chrome and Google's bullpoop. Time to commit to Firefox Developer Edition.
This update is very sluggish. Websites load slow, high CPU usage, and folder favicons are dark grey. And... please get rid of the avatar for single users.
Does anyone have issues with object data=' ' tags and viewing pdfs in a web page in that way ? I am running 46 stable but co workers got 47 and viewing pdfs that way will not work. If we put an iframe then it works, but iframe has its problems and I really don't want to do that.
Please provide a way to turn off the profile button, or move it somewhere else (next to Omni bar perhaps?) it is useless for single users and it takes valuable space from tab bar. I appreciate Chrome teams' privacy concerns but a better thought-out UX could really help here. Thanks.
Please allow us to hide the profile button! We used to have --disable-new-avatar-menu as a work-around but that is no longer available. Please don't force us to do what YOU want. We want a browser that does what WE want.
Noticed spike in CPU usage, open a couple tabs, like google analytics and other sites, will idle @ 100% CPU on MacBook Pro / OS X 10.11.1. Never experienced the issue w/ previous releases
Seriously, stop. Just STOP ruining this browser. Stop forcing things on us we don't want. Give us back the ability to make exceptions to the SSL cipher restriction. Give us the ability to fully disable the omnibar's autocomplete. And DEFINITELY give us back the ability to disable the new avatar menu, NO ONE WANTS IT AND NO ONE LIKES IT, YOU IDJITS!
I use the avatar menu all the time and I'm very happy with it.
I use it to have a work chrome and personal chrome running in parallel with different users, so that my work bookmarks, history, etc, don't interfere with my personal ones and vice versa.
++ on NTLM issues. Started for us on our corporate Intranet with Version 47.0.2526.73 m. After years of convincing users to use Chrome over IE. You're killing us google.
We get the popup un/pw box and just x'ing it out let's it proceed as usual. That's messed up.
I have to agree, Google and the Chromium devs have been utterly negligent with their testing and the flaming is indeed deserved.
As a developer I refuse to use any other browser for day to day development, however this latest massive blunder does nothing to reinforce our assertions to the general user base of our company it's a stable browser and worth using in a corporate environment.
I noticed comments on the chromium dev channel saying there weren't enough tests for this feature and it was "difficult to test". Well you better change your opinion on this critical enterprise feature now otherwise you'll just lose users. Shame on you guys, basic newbie testing practices completely ignored.
After the update, Chrome refuses to open anything, a webpage, about, settings. Everything prompts for Kill Page or Wait, which neither work. Chrome just sits and spins. Latest Windows 10 release 10586.17. Worked before the 47.0.2526.73 update was pushed.
What's the story with CVE-2015-8479? Both MITRE (http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2015-8479) and NVD (https://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2015-8479) claim this issue is fixed in 47.0.2526.73. Both sources say http://googlechromereleases.blogspot.com/2015/12/stable-channel-update.html confirm this issue, however it does not.
Since the update click and drag functionality and webCam no longer function on my site http://www.screentoys.com This site was built for Chrome and is featured on your ChromeExperiments site. You encourage and showcase envelope-pushing experimentation but seem happy to break them at will with a new update!?

Your client does not have permission to get URL /p/chromium/issues/detail?id=558589 from this server. That’s all we know.

Seriously. Please.
All the folder icons on my bookmarks bar turned black. Is this to be expected? I think it's possibly this bug:

Your release notes are not accessible... after a release that is breaking NTLM auth, really really good work google.

Since this update my Mac Book Pro sounds like a helicopter because the google chrome helpers are stable on 100% cpu.

However, --no-sandbox works.
I cannot believe that the user menu is back.

We are a K12 that uses NTLM proxies. We are also getting improper credential prompts and I have had to advise affected staff to use IE or Firefox.
REALLY disappointed, keeps crashing when changing websites

Chromium 49 does not have this issue, so that is an alternative until chrome 47 with a fix is updated.

So there's no way to disable the new avatar menu at all? That blows. I guess I'll just switch to Firefox then.
Gaaaah... everytime I update Chrome, it forces me to use the new profile menu. Now "--disable-new-avatar-menu" no longer works. :-/
