What about that much hyped android app support for all but the 3 devices that have already had it hit beta channel? When is that coming to the rest on this list: https://sites.google.com/a/chromium.org/dev/chromium-os/chrome-os-systems-supporting-android-apps?visit_id=1-636113563712255362-1001132046&rd=1
yes (google)- what about all the remaining machines that are to receive Android?
They will be along in line with the published schedule i.e. 2016/2017. If yours is on the list and it hasn't received Play Store support by the end of this year, that's the time to start bleating about it.
If you are looking to get android apps on your Chromebook early, you could try the method here at:
https://9to5google.com/2016/10/06/how-to-get-android-apps-running-on-almost-any-chromebook-right-now-video/
As it says on there, there are a number of Chromebooks that will allow you to do this method without having to follow the first part of the article (switching to the canary build of the Chrome OS). I was able to switch my device (a Toshiba Chromebook 2 2015) to the Dev channel instead of canary channel and then enter those lines of code into the shell to get Android Apps. That was a couple months ago so you might be able to do this on the Beta channel now. I got to watch Netflix on an airplane using the Android app and not paying for WiFi because I could download shows and movies using the Android version of Netflix.
I know its not ideal at the moment but if you are really looking to get Andorid apps as soon as possible, its a pretty easy workaround. The article is very user friendly!
@Cody Parker - I'm reluctant to move past Beta channel, and since the premier devices have had Android on Beta for a quarter, I'd hoped to see some additional adoption in the past few months. I'm not expecting Stable channel support, just hoping to get a chance to play with the big new feature without acquiring a new device (I'm on a Toshiba Chromebook 2 2015 as well.) @Simon - Google should provide some more specific timeline i.e. all devices will be supported in dev channel by Q2, beta channel by Q3? There are millions of Chromebooks in use in schools and educators would benefit from knowing whether this is something their curricula should look to adopt to maximize the advantages of the platform.
