I really like the new Chrome interface design, really refreshing! (as it may be a targeted trial for a select group of users, here is a screenshot of how the browser bar looks for me now; https://i.imgur.com/ChFp78a.png for those interested).

Was really needed to modernise, hope it goes into stable channel eventually. Still as simplistic, just better lookin'

I imagine that this: https://lauren.vortex.com/2018/07/10/chrome-is-hiding-url-details-and-its-confusing-people-already
is coming from this: https://security.googleblog.com/2018/02/a-secure-web-is-here-to-stay.html !?

Any good intentions aside, all i can say about it is: What the actual frack, Google!? Wasn't it bad enough that you took the ULR scheme from us half of the time? Now you have to take parts of the domain as well? What's next? The query parts?

Interestingly, the new UI design is coming to Macs as well, but this will happen much later, because the required technical changes to implement it are far greater. With Windows (and Linux) it's not hard to override the way the OS draws windows. On macOS, though, it's much harder, requiring a new drawing framework (called "Views" by Google) be used to render window interface stuff in the way Google wants it to look.
