My Acer R13 is now updating.

What is new? There are some important updates related to the Spectre and Meltdown bugs and more important security updates to the OS.

And my HP CB13G1 is also updated, now I am going to test out the new stuff, glad it is done.

After checking for updates manually the chromebook finally has been updates to the latest version:

------------------------

Acer Chromebook C910-354Y - 15,6 inch
display: Full HD 1920 * 1080
10323.67.0 (Official Build) stable-channel auron_yuna
Firmware: Google_Auron_yuna.6301.59.116
Version 65.0.3325.209 (Offizieller Build) (64-Bit)
Acer Chromebook CB5-571

-------------

Well, the new firmware works fine except for the *extremely* long boot time:

1.) First characters on the screen: after 16.5 seconds (before that: black blank screen)
2.) login screen after 20.8 seconds i.e. the device is ready to work

A boot time of about 10 seconds would be acceptable.

so as you can imagine I'm writing this on another computer, my older Acer, which I dare not restart for fear that it too will loose its connectivity.

As from today evening, my Acer CB-571 has been updated to the latest stable channel version (Version 65.0.3325.209 (Official Build) (64-bit). The latest update brings more security to Chrome OS in addressing the Spectre and Meltdown threats but boot time which was amazingly fast has now slowed to a crawl.

Since i updated the latest one chrome OS my ASUS C302 chrome book, it tend to automatically shut down itself and auto reboot.
I am not sure that is the chrome OS problems or my ASUS laptop problems but I still strive on it.
Good luck for me!!

I have the same problem with CB-571... the boot time hangs for a very long time before the splash screen shows up

HP Chromebox, boot hangs for a long time before desktop appears. This seems to happen every other ChromeOS update. I log in, black screen for 10 seconds, finally desktop appears. Makes for a very slow boot cycle as opposed to the usual snappy performance I've come to expect. Is this normal, a side effect of the Spectre/Meltdown stuff, or something else?

Ever since this update, my ASUS C302 screen has been flickering when set to the lowest backlight level (it's like it's bouncing between the two lowest levels). One notch up and the flickering stops. This machine is only 2 weeks old and the issue has only cropped up in the last 12 hours, so I'm sure it's related to this update.
